A Few Facts Christians Don't Want To Know

• Chicago Cardinal Francis George, newly elected  president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops was dubbed  "Francis the Corrector." by disgruntled priests.
•  George waited months to remove an accused parish priest in Chicago, the Rev. Daniel McCormack, who was criminally charged last year and pleaded guilty to sexually abusing five boys ages 8 to 12.
  
• George has acknowledged that he failed to act soon enough in McCormack's case.
  
•  Pope John Paul II, who died in 2005, vehemently opposed the military strike, 
  
• Pope Benedict XVI has condemned the "continual slaughter" in the country.
  
• Bishop William Skylstad (whom I despise for other reasons) told American lawmakers of both major parties that they have a moral duty to clean up the chaos that has followed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
• Skylstad said that some policy makers have failed to recognize American failures in the invasion and occupation,
  
• other U.S. lawmakers haven't acknowledged "the potential human consequences of very rapid withdrawal.
• "called current conditions in the country "unacceptable and unsustainable" for Iraqis and U.S. military personnel,
  
• called for a "responsible transition" out of the country."Our country needs a new direction to reduce the wars deadly toll

You see some know this, some don't, some refuse to acknowledge this, most are content to sweep it under the rug and or deny it or diminish the extent of it.  What does this all mean? Unfortunately thats simple. Most christian conservatives ( i refuse to call em the christian "right"), who "say" they embrace a "culture of life",  will continue to vote on one criteria and one only. They will continue to vote for whomever opposes abortion. A noble cause perhaps but to use abortion as your sole or main criteria, while ignoring the fact that millions of real, born, walking, talking, living in the real world people, are dying worldwide is just wrong. Wrong on all levels, morally and intellectually; but hey that the religious conservatives for you. Always living in a make believe fantasy world.
  There ought to be some kind of test before allowing people to vote. I dont know how or what, maybe like do you believe in the easter bunny? or  perhaps show them an a fertile egg and and bird and ask which is a bird?????? seriously i once told an anti abortionist if he truly felt that there was no difference between a fertile egg & a personn, the next time you go to buy a dozen eggs try asking for a dozen "pre-born" chickens and see what happens.

New Davinci Code?

An Italian musician and computer technician claims to have uncovered musical notes encoded in Leonardo Da Vinci's "Last Supper,"   And christians should actually like this one.
 "It sounds like a requiem," Giovanni Maria Pala said. "It's like a soundtrack that emphasizes the passion of Jesus."
Pala first saw that by drawing the five lines of a musical staff across the painting, the loaves of bread on the table as well as the hands of Jesus and the Apostles could each represent a musical note.
This fit the relation in Christian symbolism between the bread, representing the body of Christ, and the hands, which are used to bless the food, he said. But the notes made no sense musically until Pala realized that the score had to be read from right to left, following Leonardo's particular writing style. The result is a 40-second "hymn to God"

 Alessandro Vezzosi, a Leonardo expert and the director of a museum dedicated to the artist in his hometown of Vinci, said previous research has indicated the hands of the Apostles in the painting can be substituted with the notes of a Gregorian chant.   Vezzosi also noted that though Leonardo was more noted for his paintings, sculptures and visionary inventions, he was also a musician. Da Vinci played the lyre and designed various instruments. His writings include some musical riddles, which must be read from right to left.

And Yet Another ........

Fine upstanding god-fearing christian republican male, arrested AND CONVICTED of trying to pay another man for sex; this one a Florida State Rep. named  Bob Allen.  I dont necessarily buy all the so called facts in the case but YOU the good christian conservative republicans out there, YOU DO believe in the american criminal justice system and its infallability.  Oh but wait, you good people also believe in deniability, so i guess im wasting my time here, huh?  Whatever, i just wanted to point out the irony of it all.  This particular man, actually co-sponsored a bill months before his arrest that would have increased public sex charges from a misdemeanor to a felony. The proposed bill addressed "unnatural and lascivious acts or exposure or exhibition of sexual organs" within 1,000 feet of a park, school or child care facility.  Wow talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
 Democrats, for all their many and huge faults,  just dont seem to get caught at this sort of stuff.  Is it because Dems are better, more honorable people who dont do these immoral  things? HARDLY!  Hell Dems are right up front about all there "sinful" acts; nothing hidden there. Its practically their platform after all. Let other do as they wish, when they wish however they wish with impunity as long as no one gets hurt.  And even then their definition of hurt is, shall we say, different.

So what exactly separates  Republicans from Democrats?  their hypocrisy, thats what.  Republicans publicly oppose exactly that which they really enjoy in private, or more recently in public bathrooms......

Scientists reported today that the star 55 Cancri has a complete solar system -- five planets, in almost circular orbits, at least one of which seems to be in the star's "habitable zone," where temperatures are likely to be right for liquid water to exist.
Then they did the math. They concluded that one of the planets is in an orbit about 72.5 million miles from the star, taking 260 Earth days to circle it once. It's therefore closer to its host star than the Earth is to the sun (93 million miles) -- but they said that is a promising sign because 55 Cancri is slightly fainter than the sun is.

Conan O'Brien Stalker Arrested

 A Catholic priest, Rev. David Ajemian, sent multiple communications to Conan O'Brien and was then arrested for trying to enter a taping of the Conan O'Brien Show. In one missive the priest referred to himself as "your priest stalker" to Conan.

 The priest, being held on Rikers island, faces up to a year in jail if  convicted on the charges, but for sure has already been suspended by the Archdiocese of Boston. The Archdiocese released the statement, "(Fr. Ajemian) is no longer able to exercise public ministry."
 Whats up with the catholic church & Boston in particular, and their  priests? Boston is front and center with churches and priests involved in scandals.
