More on Politics & Corruption in Baseball
politics in baseball continued:
> george bush sr. calls clemens just before the congressional
hearings and "wishes him well"
> at the heariings the republicans "hammer" the whistle blower
(mcnamee) instead of clemens and virtually give clemens a "pass"
> rumor arises and is supposedly pernissible that the current
president bush could issue a "PREEMPTIVE pardon" (as President Ford
did with President Nixon) on clemens before he leaves office.
bad enuf he can pardon criminals without having to give a reason, but
to be able to pardon them even before indictment or conviction????
Ridiculous, just ridiculous
mcnamees lawyer (Emery) praised Clemens' lawyers as knowledgeable and
said the prospect of a pardon was the only explanation that allowed
the pitcher to repeat his denials under oath. "It's the only reason
lawyers worth their salt would allow their client to do that.
not enuf for you yet? ok try this on for size:
barry bonds is under indictment for perjury related to his steroid testimony
Marion Jones (olympic gold medal winner) under constant investigation
pleads guilty to using "performance enhancing drugs" and faces jail
time;
both are black no one is talking about pardoning them.
There is arguably more evidence to sustain perjury charges against
Clemens than Bonds.
