WHY Have We NOT Impeached Bush Yet?
Surely you know of his past "crimes", but if you need more read this Bush is more of a dictator than any other U.S. president in my lifetime, tho Nixon does come to mind.
Bush has refused to turn over subpoenaed documents, revealing "disdain for our system of checks and balances." The White House also made clear that Miers and Taylor would not testify next month, as directed by the subpoenas, which were issued June 13. The stalemate could end up with House and Senate contempt citations and a battle in federal court over separation of powers.
"Increasingly, the president and vice president feel they are above the law," said Leahy, D-Vt

You shouldn't quote Patrick Leahy so much, it doesn't do much for your case.
President Bush is not showing disdain of our system of checks and balances, he is exercising that system. It is that system you refer to that gives the President the privledge to refuse requests such as these from Congress. The purpose is to protect the office of the President from a hostile congress that is trying to disrupt the workings of government for their own gain.
Why should we not impeach President Bush? Because he hasn't broken any laws. Pretty simple.
as for quoting Leahy, i just liked the quote not necessarily the man.
as for criminality- what he does / did, may not be a crime, legally speaking, but that doesnt make it less criminal in an ethical sense or a "sin" if you prefer.
After all abortion is legal, but there are those (you? i think?) who nonetheless view it as criminal, so its all a matter of who you ask. see how a non crime can still be viewed as criminal?
As for his refusal to cooperate with legitimate legal requests, by one of your "checks and balances, - well only the criminal or wrongdoer has anything to fear. the truth will set you free. D. Coder
You can't be impeached for not behaving in an unethical manor. If you could, then everyone of our Presidents should have been impeached.
They are not MY checks and balances, they those of our country.
There are many examples throughout history where an innocent person can have much to fear for unwarranted witch hunts for nefarious purposes. I just with the Congress would stop pulling these petty stunts and try to pass some real legislation, since that is it's primary job.
Fine, as long as we can agree him guilty of "crimes" in an ethical sense.
Sadly, most people are guilty of not acting ethically. When it is done by those in power, that is when real trouble starts.
